Diamante Poetry for Kids (Sun and Moon)
What does a month do to you? Have you ever wondered? We go through a full circle around the sun and then call it a year. Most of us have a year full of dreams, hopes, aspirations, failures, losses, joy, sadness, surprises, health, sickness, and mundane. When we get done, we again do the same thing as the earth begins its next spin around the sun. Of these twelve months around the orbit, some have a special place in our hearts. To me, its April.
It was surreal. The flurries were still there even after the trees had bloomed, and everything looked bright and green. I was in labor, not sure how long because I was only waiting to hold my baby girl in my arms. Then she arrived with the waltz of snow flurries; soft, pink, and tender. Our precious baby girl was with us, and I held her delicately after the nurses and Vin got a chance.
As you can see, it is a difficult month to get by. I have to find ways to cope with this, one day at a time. I have decided to write at least one poem a day for kids.
Today, I have attempted to create a diamante poetry. This is an antonym diamante with the title: Sun and Moon. You can read it in reverse too and it will make sense (or so I hope). Diamante poetry is one great training tool. As a teacher/parent, one can use this to help children follow a template and create a poetry using limited words. Children will learn to use the appropriate nouns, adjectives, and gerunds to build this poem.
Here is my poetry dedicated to my precious prettiness: baby C.
